The photo for our blog’s header was taken in Lassen Volcanic National Park back in October of 2006. We’ve only visited the Park twice but we love it there. It’s quite a drive for us, so we only go when we visit our friends up in Redding, CA. On this particular trip we did a 9 hour hike starting at Butte Lake. One of the first milestones of this trail is the 700+ foot high Cinder Cone. The view you see in the photo is from looking back after hiking half way up Cinder Cone’s gravel path. The view was gorgeous even before we got to the top. I couldn’t resist stopping and getting the photos I needed to stitch this panorama together.
